The Faculty of Power Engineering and Automation (FPEA) is one of the oldest at Bratsk State University. It has three specialized departments: Electrical Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering, Industrial Heat-and-Power Engineering and Management in Technical Systems carrying out multi-level training of specialists in four training courses. 23 specialized laboratories, modern lecture audiences with multimedia software, library and display classes are at the disposal of students of the faculty. During the reconstruction of the 1st educational building, the modern laboratory equipment on the amount more than 50 million rubles was purchased. The upgrading and development of the laboratory facilities are annually carried out.
The students of FPEA are engaged in research work; participate actively in conferences, exhibitions and the Olympic Games at different levels, and also in public, cultural and sporting events. The faculty annually holds the interuniversity student's scientific and technical conference "Young Thought — to the Development of Power». Since its foundation FPEA has trained more than 7000 specialists, many of which hold executive positions at leading enterprises of the city of Bratsk and Irkutsk region.
The Corporate Educational and Research Center "Irkutskenergo — BRGU" oriented to the training of highly professional specialists in the additional educational programs considering specific conditions and tasks of Irkutskenergo company has been effectively working at the faculty since 2011. After training at the CERC the employment at the power enterprises of PJSC "Irkutskenergo" is guaranteed to students.
